Just a few miles off Interstate 75 south of Knoxville, Tennessee there is a small figure 8 track tucked back in the woods called Sweetwater Motorplex Park or also known as Niota Drift. It started out some years ago as a small oval track for go carts, after some time they started adding to the track creating what you see now in the drone photograph.
Talking with the guys running the facility, they have plans to continue the expansion of the drift course and as funds allow they will add more asphalt. The expansion is going to happen in stages so keep an eye on their FaceBook page to keep up with the progress.
These guys hold drift days a few times a month and for 20 bucks you can come out and have a little fun. The track is small and the turns are tight, but don’t let that deter you from coming out. This facility offers a great layout for anyone wanting to learn with no pressure and honestly it is challenging but in a good way.
For 20.00 you can’t really complain, this is a very laid back just come have fun kind of place. Like any other track they have safety rules, so make sure to bring a helmet. On Saturday July 7th there were only about 8 or 9 cars allowing for plenty of track time. It was close to 95 degrees outside and the sun was just brutal, thankfully for the spectators they had a tent and some umbrella’s to get under and escape the scorching heat.
