In their first ever event in Georgia, The Grand Drift finished their season by pulling 15 drivers from Georgia and Florida together at South Georgia Motorsports Park for a day full of drifting and fun!
Adjacent to the drag strip, The Grand Drift took over the huge trailer parking lot to create a kidney bean shaped layout with plenty of views for spectators of the day’s action! The cold and wet December morning didn’t keep drivers caged up for long as the tire smoke started promptly at 9:00 running until 5:00, awarding drivers plenty of seat time over the day!
The long day gave drivers plenty of time to entertain the crowd with tandem runs along with ride-alongs! Spectators had a chance to see everything from Miatas, AE86, and Mustangs at all different build levels running with the same purpose, to have fun.
The lunch break provided spectators the opportunity to walk the track and talk to drivers. Giving spectators the opportunity to see the cars in all their progress and glory and hopefully inspiring the next generation.
Overall it was a great time to watch some great sideways action and meet new people from near and far! It’s great to see support for these events grow as they venture out into new territory, or states, creating the opportunity to grow and inspire more drivers of the future! Events like this and the great drifting community behind them remind me every time why I love grassroots drifting.
Thank you to everyone apart of The Grand Drift and South Georgia Motorsports Park for putting this event together and for the hospitality! I hope to see you all again next year!
